Roof warranty questions to ask before you sign or file a claim.

A plain-language way to separate manufacturer limited-warranty questions from installation and weather concerns.

Warranty wording can make a roofing conversation feel more certain than it is. This guide helps homeowners ask focused questions, keep records, and understand why the actual product documents and project details matter.

Start by identifying which question you actually have.

A manufacturer limited-warranty question is not automatically the same as a workmanship, maintenance, age, or weather-damage question. For example, TAMKO says its limited warranties address eligible manufacturing defects that directly result in leaks, while weather and environmental damage are outside that limited-warranty coverage.

Knowing the difference helps you direct the question to the right place and prevents a warranty label from being treated as a promise that applies to every roof concern.

  • Which products are installed, and when were they purchased or installed?
  • Is the concern related to a weather event, visible workmanship issue, normal aging, or a possible material issue?
  • Do you have the invoice, property address, project records, and applicable warranty documents?
  • What does the manufacturer’s specific limited warranty say for that product and installation date?

Keep records before you need them.

TAMKO’s Warranty Center lists the kinds of information homeowners may need when starting a product claim, including installation records, property information, product names, dates, a description of the concern, and—in some situations—photos or samples requested by the manufacturer.

Happy Days can help homeowners understand the project records and warranty-support steps that apply to an eligible Happy Days project. The actual manufacturer process and terms remain controlling.

  • Keep invoices, contracts, product information, and any digital warranty documents together.
  • Take photos safely from the ground and use a professional for roof access when needed.
  • Review the actual limited-warranty document rather than relying on a general description.

Ask about eligibility instead of assuming coverage.

Happy Days’ TAMKO Platinum Pro credential may make certain enhanced limited-warranty options available on eligible projects and materials. Those options are not automatic; product, installation, registration, and program requirements can apply.

If you are weighing a new roof, ask which documents would apply, what steps are needed, and what information you will receive at closeout.

  • Which warranty documents apply to the proposed system?
  • Are there eligibility, registration, product, or installation conditions?
  • Which records should I keep after completion?
  • Where can I read the full terms before deciding?
